There aren’t any specific verses in the Bible that mention when angels sing. But the idea, or the spirit of the concept of Heavenly choirs of angels, certainly seems completely feasible to me. And based on my own desire to sing out when I think of my many blessings, I can only imagine how angels must feel in God’s presence.
I’m sure I’m not alone in this. Because think about the lyrics to so many famous Christian-based songs. Including Christmas songs. Real Christmas songs. Not the “runned-over-by-a-reindeer” silliness.
For example, “Hark, the herald angels sing.” And how about these lyrics from the best Christmas song ever? “Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices! O night divine! O night when Christ was born.” That example doesn’t specifically say the angels are singing. But it provides words that imply that idea.
The bestselling book of all time includes lots of implications.
But without at least a sixth grader’s level (or an ongoing curiosity) of English grammar, some implications could be misconstrued as contradictions. Or disagreeable discrepancies. And that’s more than a shame.
Because the bestselling book of all time is an infinitely deep well of living water to sustain your soul and nourish your joy. I know it’s done that for me. Matter of fact, my hope and joy always weave through my daily life. So much so that my circumstances never steer, push, or even nudge me away from my faith.
And it’s NOT a blind faith. It’s based on a huge evidence spectrum. From the tiniest atoms inside the trillions of cells in your body to the seemingly endless arrangements of stars in the heavens. It’s easy to see the master craftsmanship and design in all of it. So, it’s easy to believe there must be a “craftsman.”
And it’s not a huge leap to imagine how angels must feel compelled to sing, from sheer joy, to be in the presence of their very own Maker. I believe that’s how I’ll be.
And I hope you’ll be there to celebrate with me…
When Angels Sing
When angels sing from Finland skies,
Aurora Borealis eyes
Perceive a glass kaleidoscope
Of crystal lights lit up by Hope.
The angels send a message through
The frozen night of opaque blue
And bid the world to come behold
This place of peace, this crown of gold.
So, if you hear a rustling wing,
Be set to go when angels sing.
