Let’s say you have a beautiful vision of a loving future where no bad people live and everybody lives forever. If that’s you, I can confidently tell you that your dreams come true. But there is a condition.

Your dreams only come true if you know the Way to make that happen.

About 17 years ago, I wrote a collection of lullabies for kids, even though I never raised any kids myself. But with each song I just thought about what I would have sung to them if I had raised my own kids.

And the songs flowed out of me very easily. I wrote lyrics, from scratch, composed the music to go with the words, recorded all the parts, and produced 10 completed songs in 10 days. And the first song was…

In Your Dreams

I don’t know if you can see me in your dreams,
But I’ll be here
In case you need a helping hand to pick you up
Or calm your fear.

I don’t know if you can hear me in your dreams
But I’ll be there
To sing a tune and hold your hand or pat your back
And stroke your hair

In your dreams you fly up high
Beyond the clouds, beyond the sky
And the sun and all its beams
Will keep you smiling in your dreams.

Golden birds and rocket ships are in your dreams
To help you roam…
And it don’t matter where you wander in your dreams,
You’ll still come home.

Tell the sandman and the stardust in your dreams
You’ll see them soon.
Every night you’ll go and visit in your dreams
Inside this tune.    © 2009 TF

Rest easy now when you know how

A few years ago I talked about sad conversations I had with friends, from my past, who were atheists. And I said those conversations were sad “because so many (if not all) atheists believe when you die, that’s it.” Darkness. Nothingness. No R.I.P. They say that when you die, all that is you ceases to be. And it makes me sad for them because I know they don’t rest easy now, much less forever.

Yeah, it’s knowing you’re created that helps you rest easy now.

When you realize there’s a Creator who had a reason for creating, hopelessness falls away. Like dying leaves in the Autumn breezes. And just like those dying leaves fall every year, you know the new leaves will grow back the next spring. That’s hope. And optimism. All around you. I’m glad you realize this.

Can you imagine why anyone pass up on that same feeling for their own life?

My friends from the past would say they DO want that hope. But it just doesn’t exist. Because God doesn’t exist. But I always wondered how they could be so dead set sure about that.

Of course, people who don’t believe (and trust) in God feel they can ask believers that same question. How can we be so dead set sure He DOES exist? And when you know you’re up against a closed mind and a hardened heart, you know all the evidence in the world probably won’t sway them.

All the evidence in the world.

In fact, the whole world IS evidence. Except to those who WILL not see.

I love how David wrote, in Psalm 16, about his hope. “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

If you know someone who doesn’t rest easy right now, help them be hopeful. Help them to…

Let Love Live

Well, you hid your heart in a so-called safe place,
And you locked your love in a big, black box,
And you had no hope, but you built your brave face…
Then you ran your rat race
Through the tics and tocs.

Well, the bluebells bloomed in ideal intentions
As you tilled the truth into lifelong lies,
And you dug in deep making many mentions
Of your pretty pensions
Always alibis…

Let Love Live…
It can turn your trials into sunny smiles.
Let Love Live…
It can beat the blues
It demands no dues…
Take a chance and choose
To Let Love Live.

Well, your dead-end dreams left you lacking laughter
And you lived your life in a smile-free shade.
And you found no faith in an ever after,
From the floor to rafter
Your foundation laid.

Future dreams that fall apart at the seams

Most every young person has them. Well, I say that as someone who was once a young person who had them. But when I was a young person, the world didn’t seem nearly as hopeless. So, it wasn’t difficult to picture my future dreams. And what I would do to help make them come true.

But young people might be afraid to think about future dreams now.

Because they have to deal with the daily onslaught of fearmongering. Diseases. Viruses. Pandemics. Climate calamities. Global financial crises. Overpopulation.

And, on top of all that, there’s the constant reminders that women aren’t complete unless they exert their independence and join the workforce. And you can’t do all that with the burden of kids weighing you down. So, young women, whose future dreams include marriage and homemaking, are belittled and ridiculed.

And that plot line has played out for decades now. So deeply ingrained into the corporate consciousness that young women don’t just give up their own future dreams. They rob other people of theirs, too. And those who encourage that behavior like to sugarcoat it with the motto: “My body, my choice.” But the heartbreaking truth is, it’s not their body that is destroyed. And not their own life that is stolen.

Most young people will never see what I’m sharing here. And even if some do, probably most of them won’t care even a little bit. But if YOU are someone who wants true, lasting happiness, I urge to consider how important you are to your Creator. And consider His guidelines for a happier, healthier life.

If you’ve already crossed that line and created a new, yet still unborn, life, and you think abortion is the solution, I urge you to reconsider…

The Choice You’re Making Now

You’re standing on the edge of a decision.
You’re hiding from the eyes of future dreams.
You think you’re facing cold hearts and derision,
But this life isn’t always what it seems.

You’re drowning in the murky mass opinion.
You’re gasping for a breath of fresher air.
Denial of the truth makes you a minion,
Denial of a life means you don’t care.

Caught in a whirlwind, swimming in flames…
Counting the faces without any names,
And it’s the choice you might make now that blames
You.

You tell yourself it’s sweet emancipation.
But, sadly, you will just become a slave
To nightmares, lies, and selfish adoration
Of ideas reaching far beyond the grave.

Before erasing someone else’s chances
For life and liberty and happiness,
At least you get to choose your circumstances.
Why would you want them having any less?

Caught in a whirlwind, swimming in flames…
Counting the faces without any names,
And it’s the choice you might make now that blames
You.

Keep your baby. Let me know that you did. And I’ll send you some music your baby will love. It won’t cost you a penny. Because the life and future dreams you save can be an everlasting payment.

Stay tuned,

Before it gets ugly, ask yourself Why You Gotta Be Like That

Your day didn’t go like you planned or wanted. But why you gotta be like that? Your hopes and dreams for a better tomorrow were dashed against the rocks. But why you gotta be like that? You don’t see anyone living up to your expectations. But why you gotta be like that? I’m serious…why?

Do you think you have the right to make someone else feel as miserable as you do? Well, you’re wrong. Do you think no one else’s pain measures up to yours? Again…you’re wrong. Do you think there isn’t another soul in the world who could possibly understand what you’re going through? Triple play, Sparky. You’re wrong again!

Taking your anguish, your hurt feelings, your frustration out on someone else isn’t right, productive, or justifiable. It’s simply wrong. In fact, it’s a sin…the sin of selfishness. Your anger toward someone else for the shortcomings in your own life is a bold overstatement of your own importance. You ain’t all that…

OK…I’ve beat you over the head with the Truth. Now, it’s time to share the love found in the Truth. Your frustration and anger are symptoms of a deeper problem. Either you’ve decided you don’t need God…or you know you DO need God, but you’re not leaning on His understanding and wisdom. Either way, you’ve got a self-over-God issue you need to deal with. Things might not get better in your life until you do.

I know I’m just a Christian singer songwriter with no particular credentials where your heart is concerned. Fortunately, though, I don’t judge your heart. My judgment, where you’re concerned, can only be made based on your actions…your “fruit,” so to speak. I can only judge what I see. God; however, CAN judge your heart. In fact, He does. So…

How’s your heart?

If you’re a Christian, you’ve asked Jesus into your heart. But maybe you feel your heart is full of anger. Simply put…you’ve pushed Jesus into the corner, metaphorically, and you’ve decided your own wisdom and understanding are quite sufficient…thank you very much.

To that I say…shut up and listen. The Bible puts it more mildly: “be still and know that I am God.” When you listen to the words of wisdom God can and will put into your heart, you’ll be much more likely to “love your neighbor as yourself.” It may not be easy. It may not feel natural. But that’s the point. It’s supernatural, and it always treats the cause…not merely the symptoms…of selfishness.

Next time you feel inclined to snap at someone, ponder first…why you gotta be like that.

Happy Vernal Equinox

Tony Funderburk Posted on March 21, 2012 by TonyFebruary 27, 2025
Vernal Equinox

Hmm…doesn’t have the same romantic sound as “hooray for spring” does it? Let’s test how it sounds in context. I’ll replace “spring” with “vernal equinox” and write something poetic…

May you have a beautiful vernal equinox filled with all the sounds, sights, and scents of the vernal equinox.
And I hope you vernal equinox into new hopes and dreams…
And that new fountains of joy vernal equinox forth with a rush of freshness.

Not quite the same is it?

Vernal Equinox

There’s something so uplifting about spring. Even the word “spring” sounds light and airy. It’s no wonder we don’t look forward to equinox every year. That word sounds too scientific. It just describes the position our planet is in at a particular time of year. Not very light and airy. Just the facts…

Well, I hope you have a very nice vernal equinox or spring…whichever way you choose to describe this refreshing time of year.
