I read (and thoroughly enjoyed) this quote from a page full of so-called “stupidity quotes.” It’s from the English author and humorist, P.G. Wodehouse, who lived from 1881 to 1975. And he wrote, “He had just about enough intelligence to open his mouth when he wanted to eat, but certainly no more.”
Stupidity quotes, like that, are everywhere.
Especially from “woke” people who fit Mr. Wodehouse’s description to a T. Take this quote, from Facebook, for example. Whoever wrote it (and I couldn’t find anyone who claimed it) attempted to make a comparison between getting a gun and getting an abortion.
“How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion? Mandatory 48 hour waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he’s about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence, and an ultrasound wand up the a** (just because). Let’s close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun. It makes more sense to do this with young men and guns than with women and health care, right? I mean, no woman getting an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds, right?”
There are so many stupid parts to that stupidity quote, it’s challenging to know where to start.
So, I’ll shoot some thoughts out there one sentence at a time.
First, not every person, who wants (or needs) to buy a gun, is a “young man.” But still, “every young man who wants to buy a gun” must meet some significant requirements. There’s age, licensing, and training. Then there’s the background check. And that’s to determine whether or not the “young man” is…
- A drug user
- An individual who has previously been convicted of a serious criminal offense
- Mentally ill
- A fugitive from justice
- Someone who has renounced citizenship
- An illegal alien
- A person who has been dishonorably discharged from the armed services
- Someone who has restraining orders issued against him/her
- Anyone previously convicted of domestic violence
Sounds way more stringent and restrictive than what young girls, who go into Planned Parenthood for an abortion, are required to do. And it sounds that way because it IS.
In fact, in some areas, a young girl doesn’t even have to tell her parents she’s going in for the abortion. Plus, many young girls are taken to Planned Parenthood (and other abortion mills) by older “men” who got them pregnant. And many times, all they have to say is why they are there. And that’s to spend money to murder a baby. No big deal.
Wow, I’ve only addressed the first sentence from that stupid quote.
The next sentences, from the quote, illustrate how almost all so-called “pro-life” laws are just regulations that don’t stop abortion. Because whoever wrote the quote can’t demonstrate where abortion is halted. He (or she) can only show what the requirements are. And a young girl/woman can still fulfill the requirements and still kill her baby.
Next, how about the sentence that says “It makes more sense to do this with young men and guns than with women and health care, right?”
There’s that stereotyping again. “Young men and guns.” Mighty stupid assumption. And then, to follow that up with the moronic (and ubiquitous) “women and health care” nonsense. Women AND men, who claim abortion is health care, literally have only enough intelligence to open their mouths to eat. But no more.
Because, they’re likely to follow up the health care nonsense with something else even more idiotic. Like, “I mean, no woman getting an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds, right?”
Hmm…maybe not a room full of people. But most certainly a womb full of people. In fact, every single time an abortion is completed, a human being is murdered.
Every. Single. Time.
All this being said, there’s good news out there today. I got an amazing text this morning, from an awesome abortion abolitionist couple. It said that Oklahoma just became the first state in America to ban all abortion. Wow. Just when I thought “What good could possibly come out of Oklahoma?” (inside joke)
It’s proof positive you should never lose hope. Because hope, based ON the Faith and IN Love, is rewarded by the one true, living, loving Creator of Heaven and Earth. Either here and now, or in paradise forever.
I love the way His promise won’t forsake me.
