Even in this confused, convoluted, and discombobulated world you can seek and find your Creator. Not if you don’t want to, of course. Which is the preference for most of the world. But not for anybody who’s looking for the kind of Truth that last forever.
A man named Isaiah talked about his desire to know and remember God always. He said it like this,
“Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek you early…”
Isaiah understood he could seek and find God.
Because, after all, why would he waste his time seeking someone he couldn’t find. Makes sense. Right?
Isaiah also understood how God’s righteousness and judgments help the “inhabitants of the world” to learn righteousness. The more all of us inhabitants learn righteousness, the less likely we are to want to harm others and ourselves.
But do you see more righteousness? Or less righteousness in this world right now?
This morning, I thought about how I went through a book called “Man In The Mirror” (by Patrick Morley) with a group of fellow Christian men on Thursday mornings. We met early and discussed some of the “finer points” of how that man in the mirror should live.
In one of those meetings we talked about finances and how a Christian should approach money. And I mentioned that, in America, we don’t actually have a financial crisis. We have a terrible heart condition.
When a nation turns its back on the weakest and most vulnerable among us, unborn babies, it really doesn’t matter how well any of us or all of us do financially. We’re still morally bankrupt.
God cares much less about your fiscal responsibilities than He does about your life?
So, how does a nation, that was once the beacon of God’s grace and hope, become a country where Jesus isn’t tolerated or welcomed in schools, places of business, and government.
Simple.
That nation determines its own “laws” to be above those of God. That nation says “my will be done on earth”. And that nation swears by self-righteousness.
So, as I said, we have a failing heart.
When you don’t seek and find God, your heart condition will kill you. And when I say “kill you,” I mean permanently and forever. More “laws” aren’t the solution. That’s why nations fail and fall.
And you can’t punish the innocent and tolerate the guilty and expect good things to happen.
If you haven’t taken the time to look for real Truth, make today the day. Because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. And if you’re not here, on planet Earth, tomorrow, are you absolutely sure where you’ll be?
You can’t run away from real truth.
And every word of truth is a knife.
