I’ve made music for most of my life. I’ve made a living making music for most of my life. I tell you this because even though I like my quiet times I’ve spent a majority of my life in an atmosphere of sound and fury. So, why would I title this article “Put To Silence”? I’m so glad you asked…
A guy named Peter wrote, about 2000 years ago, what can happen when you do good.
You can “put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”
Of course, Peter wasn’t saying that doing good changes anyone’s eternal destination. Only their choice to love God and His Grace can do that. But the point is…when you do good to those who are ignorant of the love and Grace of God…when you share with them the message of this eternal redemptive love…they are no longer ignorant. They are without excuse.
And sharing this message, doing this good also does something for you. It builds up your own faith, hope, and love. Then, each subsequent time you speak up, or sing up, or write up you’re erasing ignorance.
No doubt willful ignorance will never be completely erased by any of us. But I do know that no one will go to Heaven or hell without knowing why they are there. Wherever you spend eternity you’ll get there by choice.
I hope you’ll use your gifts and talents, today, to do what you can to put to silence someone’s ignorance of God’s love toward them. And I hope you’ll share your experiences with me. Now, go to it, and…
Stay tuned…
