I’ve been a podcast producer for years. Even before it became this “new thing.” But my current FunderCast wasn’t always what it is now. In fact, it’s gone through several changes since I started. But, like a marketing guy I know says, “Your market is everything. It dictates what to say…” And my podcast “market” is my listeners.
And over the years my listeners have chimed in from time to time to tell me what they liked. Or didn’t. A lot of episodes were geared toward kids. Other episodes were about just good ol’ words and music. And, as it turns out, apparently listeners prefer it when I share rhymes and reasons (and music) based on Biblical principles. So, I’m glad to keep creating that kind of content.
“OK, podcast producer. But what does truth talk reducer mean, Tony?”
Well, I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts during the time I’ve been at this. And one trend I noticed was a tendency toward long-windedness. And repetitious content that seemed like the host or producer was trying to hard to make a longer podcast. So, I figured I’d buck that trend and go for smaller bite-sized episodes.
That way I can focus on a single idea or concept. And then either offer some Biblical insight or add a relevant song.
But it’s not only about life lessons. Sometimes I just talk about current events. Or road stories from my days as a full-time, professional traveling musician.
And I’ve seen my audience grow over the past couple of years. So, it looks like at least most of my listeners enjoy the way I’m putting it out there now. But if that’s not you, feel free to email me and share your opinion. I don’t guarantee it’ll change the way I do things. But if enough of my “market” says they prefer another way, then so be it.
Alright. Just wanted to share that with you for whatever it’s worth. And just in case you’re not already subscribed to the FunderCast, here are links to many of the ways you can tune in. And they include the biggies…
