What’s your idea of a perfect vacation or relaxing getaway? Yeah, I’m talking about that in October. So what. It’s a way to keep the warm glow of summer glowing just a little longer. Not buying it? Well, nevertheless, maybe you’re part of the majority of Americans who prefer an island day (aka beach vacation). That’s what I found on one website I visited yesterday. And I guess it makes sense, if you prefer the relaxing kind of vacation.
Apparently 39% of people polled said time on the beach was the perfect vacation.
The next most popular was an outdoors trip. And I fall into that category. Because generally speaking I’m not a fan of perspiring on a bed of sand. Or lying still on a towel on a bed of sand. I guess that’s all just a wee bit too relaxing for my taste. And I want nothing at all to do with the third place vacation idea…theme parks.
Yuck! Where’s my Mickey Mouse barf bag?
But I digress…
Getting back to the whole beach thing. Even though a day at the beach isn’t my idea of a walk in the park, there’s a lot about it I love. Especially the music. And I’ve written quite a few songs with that sort of beachy theme.
There’s something fun about the beats and the colors and the scents. And it sparks my songwriting imagination. And I remember a buddy I used to hang out with, in Texas, saying he thought it was interesting how I love the mountains but sing the island songs so well. It’s sort of like this…
Oh, oh, oh, it’s an island day
Oh, oh, oh sail your cares away
And oh, oh, oh, cross the seven seas
Oh, oh, oh, on a clear cool Breeze
Be sure to listen to the FunderCast episode that goes with this. Because I’ll share the song.
