Unless you’ve been glued to your Minecraft or Candy Crush, you probably already know how big the superhero movies have been the last 10 years. They’re mostly based on characters from Marvel and DC comic book series. And I have it on good authority, Marvel is better. And from what I’ve been able to discover, if you go by box office bucks, the last 10 years have put Marvel way on top.
But so what if Marvel is better at the box office.
Who cares about making millions of dollars? Especially when it just means a bunch of rich, white guys will have even more money to wield their power and control. Yeah, I said it. A bunch of rich, white guys.
Well, one anyway.
Because, as it turns out Walt Disney owns Marvel. And I just betcha he’s sittin’ in his ivory tower, right now, scheming up ways to use his dough to make more dough by taking all your dough.
*ring ring ring* Uh, excuse me. I gotta take this call. Be right back…
(in a slightly whispered voice…)
Do what? *pause*
Mr. Disney is what? *pause*
Huh? It’s the Walt Disney Company? *pause*
And are you sure about that? *pause*
When did he die? And do they understand what his means at DisneyWord? *pause*
OK, yeah. I’ll clear it up with my people. *pause* Yeah, you have a nice day, too. *click*
Alright. Sorry for that interruption. Well, as it turns out, Walt Disney doesn’t actually own Marvel. Because he’s been dead since 1966. So, I’m not sure how all these so-called “Disney” movies get away with calling themselves that. But no one consulted ME on it. So, I’ll just defer to my secret authority who says Marvel is better. And leave it at that.
