Independence Day 2011, but then again
Every Day Is Independence Day
My preference, as a singer songwriter, has always been to go the “Indie” route. When I first started out (a couple of centuries ago), independent musicians didn’t stand a snowball’s chance in Texas of ever making many waves. Thanks to the internet, social media, and awesome home studio recording gear that’s all changed.
Now, I can analyze what people are talking about, see what kind of music they’re looking for, and work to give it to them in my own style. Best thing is…I don’t have to sign my “rights” over to anyone, I don’t have to give 90% of my royalties or profits to anyone, and I can write and sing what I want to write and sing. Even if I only find a thousand true fans, I’ve succeeded. And I don’t have to sell my soul to enjoy it.
Now, that’s what I call Independence! I’ve been looking forward to the digital age all my life.
Enjoy the fireworks, and be safe, happy, and well.
And…
Stay tuned,
