Sittin’ here in gonna wanna shoulda mode
Well, sometimes I’m sittin’. And sometimes I’m standin’. But right now, there’s a whole lotta gonna wanna shoulda in my life. Does that ever happen to you? Maybe I should clear up what I’m talkin’ about.
What does gonna wanna shoulda even mean?
I love how flexible our English language is. And I’m way more impressed by how much we can understand even when the language is slanged out and torn up.
For example, I know you know that gonna means going to. And wanna means want to. And shoulda means should have (shoulda comes from should’ve, not should of). Right?
Plus, I know you know what people are talking about when they put all three together. Right?
It’s about intentions. And most of the time it’s implied good intentions. But it usually means the kind of good intentions the road to hell is paved with. Can I get an amen?
But sometimes, I believe, it can be about something else. And that’s where I am, with it, today. Because I’ve been dealing with a relentless health issue. And it has taunted and tainted me, six ways from Sunday (That’s an idiom, for you younger readers. And it means in just about every way possible) for the past two and a half years.
As you might have noticed, I’m a voice and words guy. And I’ve spoken, sung, and written for a living…as well as for entertainment. So, it’s frustrating, to say the least, when I can’t use my skills to their fullest potential. And that’s what I’ve been battling for over two and a half years.
But here’s the thing…
I’m still gonna. Sing, that is. And speak. And write. But the vocal part is the big challenge right now. Because apparently all the sinuses in my head are infected. And they’ve been that way for a long time. My ENT doctor believes he can rearrange small bones behind my nose. And that’ll allow my sinuses to drain and open me up again.
And that’s scheduled for next week.
So, I’m gonna be healing up for a week after that. Then, I look forward to getting my normal voice back. So I can sing till the cows come home and even sing to the cows. (Don’t know what that means exactly.)
And I wanna ask for prayers for my doctor. Pray that he’s skilled, cautious, alert, in a good mood, and whatever else you can think of that could help.
And I probably shoulda gotten this done a couple of years ago. But I didn’t even know what I was dealing with.
.Better late than too late, right? Anyway…
