Frankincense and Myrrh – not just token gifts
Quite a few years ago, my wife and I enjoyed a special Christmas presentation put on by some little kids in our church. Our favorite part was when one of the kids, dressed as a wise man, made his gift-giving speech for the baby, Jesus. He talked about how they had travelled far bearing gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh. But what made it memorable was how he said it. Gold and fwankincense and muh. He had a bit of a pwoblem with R’s. And just so you know…he grew up to be quite a public speaker…no more problems with R’s. Frankincense and myrrh should be in your health and wellness playbook.
What do you think of when you hear terms like: pain reliever, or anti-fungal, or hormonal balance? I hope your first thought isn’t, “Where’s the closest Walgreen’s?” You’re much better off to change your mindset from treating symptoms to treating and getting rid of causes.
For example, did you know frankincense has been used for thousands of years as a pain reliever? In fact, it has some amazing healing properties. Like its ability to inhibit certain enzymes that cause inflammation in your body. And inflammation is why you experience pain. Frankincense also helps balance your hormones, digest food better, and even keep your skin healthy. Pretty important things, wouldn’t you agree?
Myrrh has some of the same benefits as frankincense. And it’s also anti-fungal. So, start thinking about what’s gonna help you get rid of health problems instead of just what’s gonna make the pain go away the quickest. Skip the drug stores (the middle men) and go straight to the sources found in plants and food.
You’re a complex design and you deserve the best.
Drugs are not the best. I’m not saying to never take any drugs. I’m saying they’re generally not the best solution. A well-balanced lifestyle including real foods, fresh air, exercise, and plenty of good, filtered water…that’s the best solution. And when you include essential oils like frankincense and myrrh, you’re giving yourself the best shot at good health.
The best grade essential oils aren’t cheap. But they’re still cheaper than going to the doctor every time your arthritis flairs up. Or your hormones are out of balance. Or you feel depressed. Doctors ensure their job security by prescribing drugs. Not healing patients. I know that’s harsh. But it’s true. The ones who truly care about your health are much fewer and farther between than they ever were.
What that means is you absolutely MUST take responsibility for your health. I heard one guy say, “Self-care is the very best healthcare.” It doesn’t mean you’ll take essential oils, eat real foods, and never get sick again. But it does mean you’ll be giving your body the best shot at protecting itself from germs, bacteria, and viruses.
I’m on this journey. And I hope you’ll join me. What do you say? Are you up for some fwankincense and muh?
