1954 Was The Coolest Year Ever
And could I say that if it wasn’t true? Well…yeah…but it is true.
Ken McCarthy (famous for the System Seminar…probably the coolest internet marketing intensive ever) claims the coolest year ever was 1959. As Maxwell Smart would say “missed it by that much”. And one of his reasons is because he was born that year. So, I assert 1954 was the coolest year ever… And besides the fact that I say so…here’s some more key, undeniable, indisputable proof. 🙂
IBM announced the invention of an electronic brain for business use. (without it you don’t need microchips)
Elvis Presley (a nobody from Tupelo) recorded his first record. It don’t get much cooler than this…
And Bill Haley & the Comets had the first rock-n-roll #1 hit…
Brando wins best actor Oscar for “On The Waterfront”…and made leather jackets cool.
Paul Newman made his film debut, and he later played “COOL Hand Luke”.
The first human organ transplant, a kidney, was performed. And the patient lived 7 more years. Very cool!
By all accounts the term “cool” became cool in 1954…
