Some say chromium health benefits are measurable. Others say no. Yeah, it’s just like everything else these days. Tons of evidence why something’s good for you. And tons of evidence against it.
The FDA says this about chromium health benefits:
“One small study suggests that chromium picolinate may reduce the risk of insulin resistance, and therefore possibly may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. But the FDA concludes that the existence of such a relationship between chromium picolinate and either insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes is highly uncertain.”
But proponents have used chromium for a wide variety of applications. Here’s a blurb I found:
“Chromium is famous for its reflective, metallic luster when polished. It is used as a protective and decorative coating on car parts…usually applied by electroplating.”
As for me, I’m not gonna take any time to research the chromium picolinate connection. But I’ve always been a fan of shiny chrome. And that’s gotta be part of the reason the word “chromium” popped into my head when a young photographer shared a very dazzling picture of a shiny hot air balloon glowing with the reflection of a sunset sky.
The balloon must have been made of the material you see on those shiny balloons have sometimes. Because it looked like metal floating in the sky. With a tiny flame blowing heat up into it from the bottom. And amazing colors in the sky also looked metallic in the reflection.
I doubt there’s any chromium health benefits to it, but I just had to write…
Chromium Reflections
In chromium reflections,
With scarlet overtones,
I saw the bright perfections
In thirteen xylophones.
Through auburn, crystal twilight,
In clouds of rippled glass,
Some angels saw the highlight
And said, “Let this one pass.” © 2023
The balloon is what the glasses see at the top of this post.
