I’m not into touchy-feely stuff. So, when someone suggested, many years ago, that I might actually like the chamomile effects of a tea she was going to make for me, I was skeptical.

But I have to admit I actually did enjoy the chamomile effects.

Because I had a very bad headache. And I guess the chamomile tea helped reduce the inflammation that was causing the headache. So I got relief without taking any drugs. Not even an aspirin.

After all these years, I’ve discovered Nicole Apelian, a Ph.D in Cultural Anthropology. And on her own health, wellness, and education platform she includes chamomile in her Medicinal Seed Kit. That’s something she put together to help you grow a natural pharmacy in your own backyard.

Here’s what she says about this flowering plant:

My grandmother used to grow chamomile in her garden. She would pick the flowers in early autumn, dry them on old newspapers, and store them in mason jars. She saw this plant as a real “heal-all.” If I’d get pinkeye, she’d put a warm compress dipped in chamomile tea over my irritated eyes. If my stomach hurt, she’d make me drink the tea, and I’d soon start to feel better.
