Regardless of my circumstances or status, I’m blessed to be alive. Because I’m alive. And I’m aware that I’m alive. And somewhere in my soul I know eternity is real. You could almost say the knowledge of eternity is written on the very heart of me. Hmm…wait a minute. Somebody DID say that, didn’t they?
A few years ago I shared some thoughts on being blessed to be alive.
And I shared a bullet list about what I love about life.
- smooth sailing,
- trials and tribulations
- growing up,
- gaining knowledge,
- gaining friends,
- awards and rewards,
- challenges and failures,
- clouds and sunshine,
- joy and laughter,
- pain and redemption, and
- words and music…
And life is not a two part journey…it’s a two place journey.
I hope you’re like me in that you’re an eager participant in both. Planet Earth is beautiful. And terrifying. Because it’s a broken reflection of God’s love and creativity. But the next place will be unfathomably kinetic, energizing, and joyous. Blessings beyond comprehension. And without end.
But not for everyone.
And that’s unimaginably sad. Because to enjoy life without end, all you gotta do is believe.
Not in dreams. And not in yourself. Not in a “force”. And not in the “law of attraction”. Not in internal spirits. And not in Mohammed, Confucious, Buddha, or even Allah.
Only in Jesus. But if that name offends you, the second place you live will fill you with unending torment.
And I’m only sharing this because I don’t want to see that happen to you.
You are blessed to be alive.
Keep that blessing in your heart.
And don’t let it slip away.
Every day’s a brand new start.
