Awards shows matter, if…
You like dumb chatter? Really? And you seriously don’t mind watching a bunch of fantasy fanatics telling you what’s really important? If you can answer “yes” to questions like that, then I guess awards shows matter to you. But I think they only matter for one reason…

Awards shows matter only as they expose the rebellious, willful ignorance of so many.
Beyond that, awards shows (and those who are attending and/or receiving the awards) are nothing more than foolish chatter. They don’t have the privilege and time investment of my eyes and brain. And I’m sure they couldn’t care less. But I suppose they’ll continue as long as there are enough eyes and brains willing to waste time watching and listening.
A lot of people posted and shared video on social media, today, about a guy named Ricky Gervais. He hosted an awards show, known as The Golden Globes, yesterday evening. I’ve never watched that show. Ever. And I wouldn’t have known anything about who won what, if it weren’t for those social media posts. But the posts I saw weren’t talking about the awards. They were sharing how much Ricky Gervais said that they agreed with.
So, knowing which side of the political spectrum a lot of these people lean toward, I had to see what all the flitter was about. And I clicked on one of the video links.
Sure enough, there was Ricky.
And he definitely seemed to be taking aim at fame and fortune. And with no apparent pulled punches. It appeared everyone in attendance was fair game for the verbal trouncing. Unfortunately, Ricky is also quite vulgar. And he couldn’t resist tossing in some foul language and sexual “humor”. But he did tell a lot of it like a lot of it is. However…
I don’t think he leans in the direction of his barbs as much as his monologue might have you believe. In fact, I’d be willing to bet he writes and talks that way for the exact results he received. And I’m sure he’s aware that he can take a nice, long ride on the waves of both the huff and puff indignation of one side and the “Yeah! What he said!” agreement of the other side. Because all the talk promotes the Ricky brand. And like “they” say, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.”
Well, until those promos are played back for you by the One who made you. There’s that little detail to consider.
Awards Shows
Awards shows, with their fanfare,
Never, ever take you where
Real life and real truth exist.
So, I urge you to resist
Wasting time by tuning in
To celebrities who spin
Machinations so bizarre.
Wonder how they got that far.
So self-focused, they can’t see
They’ll reap, for eternity,
Each befuddled, feckless plan.
Gotta go…I’m off to Cannes.
