There’s no shortage of animal stories all over social media. Video clips of furry creatures doing all sorts of cute and even compassionate-looking things. And when I say “all over social media,” I mean all over. Even a so-called business-focused site, LinkedIn, is full of ’em.I saw three animal stories on LinkedIn just this morning.
And it didn’t take more than a minute or two for all three to pop up. The first one was the story of a German shepherd who sat by, and stared down at, a street drainage grate for hours. People stopped and petted the dog. And he seemed to like the attention. But nothing could distract him from staring down into that grate.
Finally, the fire department showed up and lifted the grate. And they looked back inside the drain area and found a litter of kittens. So, of course, the dog was a hero who helped save the poor, little kittens. Everyone cheered.
The next story was about a female whale who was entangled in a huge amount of fishing nets and debris. So much of it was stuck around her that she could barely reach the surface of the water for air. Naturally, people wanted to help the poor thing. So, some divers risked their lives and dived in to cut off all the junk.
And the article said that once the whale was free it splashed around in the ocean as though dancing for joy. But even more “miraculous” was how the whale swam up to each of the divers who helped her and nudged them. Because, she obviously wanted to thank them.
Then, I saw a video clip (remember, this is all on a business networking social site) of a guy who rolled down a small hill in his wheelchair. He fell out of the chair and couldn’t get up. (side note: I’m always skeptical when I see a video clip of something like this because why didn’t the person taking the video help)
Anyway…
Turns out a horse and carriage were also in that park. And the next thing you see is the horse going around to help the guy get back to his wheelchair. But the guy couldn’t get back in his chair which had flipped onto its side. So, the horse flipped the chair back up. But the guy apparently still couldn’t get back in his chair. Then, the video suddenly showed the horse lying down on its side and the guy climbing up on it.
Of course, the horse stood up, with the guy on its back. And everyone lived happily ever after among the cheers.
Yes, those are interesting, and even sometimes tug-at-your-heart kinds of animal stories. And people LUV LUV LUV to share them all over the internet. But you know what you don’t see?
Humans are mostly mute when people save baby humans from abortion. It doesn’t happen often enough. But it happens regularly. And so-called “social media influencers” never mention any of those stories. Because those stories reveal something that’s not cute. That this world not only allows, but also encourages, the destruction of innocent human children. And we don’t wanna be reminded of how inhumane that is. Right?
It’s just as un-fun for me to write about as it is for you to read.
But, sadly, it’s a fact of every day life
That many choose self and don’t choose life.
